Deafblind UK, About Me and iDecide are organisations providing support and advice to people with a dual sensory loss: hearing loss and sight loss. Deafblind UK asked Honest to design and develop engaging, user-friendly websites for the three sister organisations.
The primary goal was to keep the organisation up to date and position Deafblind UK as experts in the field as well as to make using the site an enjoyable experience. The new website needed to be appealing and easy to use, encouraging users to return as well as getting them to contact the charity – both for information and to fundraise or donate. In addition Deafblind UK required the new site to be as user-friendly as possible for staff to update content in the CMS.
Given the specific needs of the site’s users, accessibility was an important consideration and all three websites were designed to conform to AA accessibility standards. The three sister sites are all based on the same templates, each with its own colour palette and skin. Honest supplied Deafblind UK with a suite of three websites, each built with accessibility as a priority. The solution was built upon WordPress multisite, which addressed the client’s need for an easy to use CMS with rich media editing functionality and straightforward page hierarchy manipulation. Utilising a drag-and-drop system, Deafblind UK are now able to sort and display content easily and efficiently.
